So you might be able to have a line of sight on where you know a tank is but wont be able to physically see it. Only big difference you might see and would require explaining is that unlike say Battlefield where you can see everything even if its behind bushes or across the map, WoT has a spotting system where each tank has its own view range and camo rating. There is a lot of mechanics at play in this game that don't really come out until higher tiers and with experience.So if you all have fresh accounts you are starting at tier 1 which can still be fun but are very droll in comparison with the specialized tier 10s. The game is setup where you start at roughly WW1 tanks and work your way to Cold War tanks.
